Help,blew the 10uf tantalum

I got Thur the resistance check ,when I  put power to the eros I blew the 10uf tantalum. I ordered more but I am fear that this was a bad thing to do. What could this involve? And what could have gone down with tantalums?

double check that  you have the polarity correct,  tantalum's do not respond well to reveres voltage...John

The tantalums are there to prevent instability and oscillation in the regulator chip. It's unlikely that you have damaged anything else, and if you did it should be easy to figure out what and replace it - there's nothing expensive in that circuit.

I will mention that the two Tantalums are now imbeded in my ceiling above my work area.Still red hot.
