Can I use a wire instead of the 0 ohm resistors on page 54 ?

You can, but you don't need to.

Stripping really short pieces of the teflon covered wire can be really difficult, so using a jumper is preferable.

They've been in the kits for 7 years, but there does seem to be a fair amount of recent interest.
