Input impedance of mainline? (for XLR to RCA adapter)

(1/1)

dubiousmike:
Hi all,

I am planning to build an xlr to rca cable to try out the balanced output of my dac with my mainline (as an alternative to the normal se out, which is the product of a summing circuit).  To do this, the manufacturer recommends connecting pin 3 to pin 1 in the xlr plug with a resister = to the input impedance of the amp.  Diagram here: https://www.head-fi.org/t/766347/schiit-yggdrasil-impressions-thread/420#post_11774881

Does anyone happen to know the mainline's input impedance?  Thanks much!

[EDIT - Jason commented in the thread that although this will not damage the dac, but they do not actually recommend running it this way, contrary to the comments on HF.  Scrapping this project as a result.]

Strikkflypilot:
From the Mainline specs page:"Output power is about 600mW. Input impedance is 25Kohms minimum. Gain is around 12dB into 32 ohm headphones at the low impedance output setting. "

Much appreciated!
