Title: C4S voltage check
Post by: Brillo on March 04, 2024, 11:59:30 AM
Hi all. My 6 and 16 readings from the C4S test are both in the 75 VDC range. Concern?

Can you post some photos of your PC board?  What are the DC voltages at pins 1 and 4 of each four pin socket?

My voltages on the 4-pin socket:

A1 - 18VDC
A4 - 74VDC

B1 - 13VDC
B4 - 72VDC

Maybe try another set of tubes, if safe to do so?

Actually, I followed the directions exactly as provided by Bottlehead.  At time of purchase, I was sent the 2016 version of the BeeQuiet manual, rather than the the current BeePre2 version of this upgrade.
When provided an incorrect manual, it would be prudent to ask for the correct manual?

In the pictures you provided with your C4S boards glowing, I can see the twisted pair of wires going to each 300B grid/ground disconnected from anything and floating in the air.  These are not the conditions listed anywhere in the manual for testing.

If you ordered the BeeQuiet for the BeePre 1, there's still no reason to turn the amp on with no attenuator wired in.

You came here asking why your C4S voltages appear to be too low.  I have answered that question and advised that some additional caution is warranted to help prevent damaging your 300Bs.

Actually, I followed the directions exactly as provided by Bottlehead.  At time of purchase, I was sent the 2016 version of the BeeQuiet manual, rather than the the current BeePre2 version of this upgrade.  Consequently, disassembly of the mentioned components had been completed.

This used to be a 'no-judgement zone' when it came to support from the copmmunity here.  Not anymore.  It's assumed you're a total hack with no brain.

Apologies for wasting people's time, but I'll figure it out from here on my own.

I have not been following this and thus I'm not very clear on the sequence of events here. If you need a Bee2Quiet Manual we can send you a link.
