General Discussion / OT - latest distraction
« Last post by Doc B. on Today at 04:56:59 AM »
A few months ago I was invited to assist in the installation of a newly rebuilt engine in a friend's 1937 Rolls Royce 25/30 limousine. Yesterday was the big reward, a first ride around the neighborhood. Glorious.

Not that I have just been playing. We are very close to releasing the new isolation platform and I have been getting the studio cleaned up for our Pipette and Subette demo on June 15th. PB has been chipping away at the Moreplay upgrade manual too.

BeePre / Re: Shushing Sound from preamp

i cleaned them with deoxit
I would replace the sockets immediately and definitely do not do that again.

This also only happens  when I listen to LP's
This would indicate that the issue is happening before the BeePre.

BeePre / Re: Resistance Check on 52

If you can measure the 330 ohm resistor while it's mounted in the kit and it measures correctly, then try to measure that resistance across the terminals it's mounted to.  Does that resistance appear at those terminals?  Now try this for each of the 130 ohm resistors.  At some point, you will get a resistance reading on a resistor that doesn't agree with the resistance reading between the two terminals it's mounted to, and that's an indication of a soldering issue or a broken lead.

Crack / Re: Issues after volume mod

Could I see a complete overhead shot of your build?  There are some wires in your photo that don't seem like they should be there, but I can see where they are coming from or where they are going.

It is completely possible that the issue you're experiencing is related to something else going on in the build.  How are your DC voltages?  Are they still correct?

None of the four LEDs on the Speedball's small board light up
If you turn the lights off in your room, can you see them lighting up now?

What are your OB voltages on your outer high current C4S boards?  I suspect those LEDs are dim because your 6C45 tubes aren't conducting sufficiently.  Did you notice the instruction to fold over and solder together one pair of legs on each of the blue bias trim pots?

Kaiju Stereo 300B amp / Re: Kaiju - IEC Socket Replacement

This is the one you want:

It's possible we accidentally sent you the one that works on the thinner panels.  If the one you have looks exactly like the picture in this link, you just have to be sure to really press it down till all the clips click on the back side of the panel, then it will stay put.

Could you post a picture of the bottom of your front C4S board?

Thank you!

Sounds like your amp has the right voltages so you should be good to go. The big board LEDs are about the same brightness as the 12AU7 socket LEDs. The small board LEDS are much dimmer because they pass less current. You may want to darken the room to observe them.
