Title: SEX kit 2.0 Iron question.
Post by: vanofmonks on September 08, 2013, 08:40:07 AM
Finally getting around to building my SEX 2.0 kit.  I would like to know if I can use a pair of Altec Lansing 15708 instead of the specos?  I have posted the specs.

Thanks,
Chris

It's not ideal - SEX is designed for 8K ohms which is 0.625 watts at 70 volts. But it will work, probably more power but at greater distortion.

I'd also mention that the lower ratio on the output transformer may be a poorer choice for headphones.

Thanks for the reply.  I figured it might be low, but was not sure if the ratios worked out the same because it was for 70v.  Probably use it for a 6av5 triode.

Thanks,
Chris
