Title: The Winter Mountain Band
Post by: JamieMcC on December 06, 2013, 12:21:46 AM
I saw these two guys who are the Winter Mountain Band playing as a support act last month, acoustic guitars and doing their own vocals in a small theatre (the album is not all just acoustic guitar by the way) and thought they were rather good.

Nice Story also. Two individual young musicians a English man and a Irish Man each travelling from opposite coasts of the USA board a train in Chicago sit down next to each other and start chatting the trains destination? Well Memphis of course! By the time they arrived The Winter Mountain Band was born.

I had a chat with them after the show and picked up their debut album "Winter Mountain" and its a cracker with nice lyrics and harmonies, what springs to mind is they have sort off modern yet retro sound some of their songs have a touch of Simon and Garfunkle'ness about them which makes for some nice easy listening.

Anyhow the album has some beautifully crafted songs and some poignant lyrics and comes across as being thoughtfully and well produced.

A couple of my favourite tracks from the album courtesy of youtube
