Two songs on two sets of headphones have wowed me on the Mainline:
1.) PC + Schiit Bitfrost Multibit + Mainline + LCD2C (unbalanced) -- Yellowjackets, Blue Hats CD, "New Rochelle" (AIFF format); though fusion, there is a drive and naturalness to this recording. The drum hits, sax and keyboards just sound incredible. I don't know how many times I just said, "Wow!" to myself. Stunning!! In fact, there isn't much on this well-recorded disc that doesn't sound compelling.
2.) Same chain with the exception of Sennheiser HD600 headphones -- Diana Krall, Live in Paris CD, "A Case of You" (AIFF format) -- The palpability and rendering by Diana of Joni Mitchell's classic via this pairing is captivating, authentic and emotional. Not many do justice to Joni's tunes; Diana does. Hate to say it, but as much as I like my Crack/Speedball, there just isn't a comparison to the Mainline with the 600s on this cut. Moving!
Just had to share.
Best,
Joe.

Glad to hear my observations are not just the mindless ramblings of a Bottlehead fanboy. The Mainline is truly something special.
BTW, I just acquired a lightly used pair of ZMF Auteurs. After reading too many reviews on the Sennheiser HD800S and, more recently, the Auteurs, I decided to give the ZMFs a go. They too pair beautifully with both the Mainline and the Crack.
Best,
Joe.
