Title: Transformer screw hole blocked? [resolved]
Post by: geniekid on August 14, 2019, 03:15:50 PM
Finally getting around to assembling this thing.  I noticed the center transformer has 4 holes that the 2" screws are ultimately supposed to go through.  However, it seems like one of the holes on my transformer is blocked by the clear/translucent stuff that covers the exterior.  It doesn't seem like a very deep covering so I think I can VERY carefully drill through it or bore a hole through it with my filing tools.  Is this the correct solution?

I'd just scrape it out - it will probably scrape off easily. A toothpick would probably suffice.  If it requires something stronger, try a small screwdriver or exacto knife.

cheers, Derek

Clearing out the hole is no problem.  Just wanted to make sure that's what I should be doing.  But now that I type that out, it seems implausible that there could be any other way forward.  :D

It’s just excess varnish. If you use a drill bit use it in your hand, not a drill.  It won’t be difficult to clear the varnish.

Drill bit with the hand worked well.  Thank you.
