just finished my build. this is my set up: Mac mini-> wyred 4 sound dac2 -> w4s sx1000 -> salk speakers. the dac2 acts as my dac and pre amp. i thought i'd add quickie and feed the it with the dac's rca outs.  the dac has a variable and fixed volume, and my software on my mac mini also has volume control. if i use volume other than the quickie's volume am i essentially using the quickie as a tube buffer? i'm deliberately adding the tubes to color the sound. any suggestions on where i should be controlling the volume so best sound quality. i'm afraid the answer is going to be have the dac on fixed and the software on fixed then control everything the the quickie dial.  thus removing my remotes.
thanks in advance

Software regulated volume control isn't good, as you already know.
Try both options and keep what sounds best: your system could be very forgiving and let you keep the remote volume control, or the difference could be so subtle not to justify the lack of remote (which is very useful!).
