Edit: It doesn't matter how much I search, it seems I always find the answer after I post a question ::)
I was wondering about the end bells on the plate chokes. Some online pics have them, some don't, and the manual doesn't. But another thread indicates the S.E.X. kits are now shipping with end bells for the plate chokes. If this is not correct, please let me know.

Covers on the chokes are now standard.

If they’re crimped in place, I’m assuming that any kind of thermally setting coating is a bad idea?
-
They are squeezed in place and then immersed in varnish. What did you want to coat them with?
-
If the bell was separate I’d have it powder coated or cerakoted. I’m assuming the choke wouldn’t be so happy in the thermal cure process though.
-
Yeah, you don't want to cook the choke in a curing oven.

I came to this forum to inquire about finishing the plate chokes, so I'll just add my comments/inquiry here...
I am finally getting around to building my S3X. I've been very much wanting to get it glowing, but haven't been able to until now.
Fully unpacking the kit bits, I had planned and prepared to also apply some finish - a hammered finish - to the mounting bits of the chokes, like the power transformer bell/cover, for cosmetics and to protect from rusting. I see the plate chokes are now nicely finished with bells, and all the metal parts are covered with a finish. This is all good. It looks like now I don't have to worry about finishing these to protect anything from rust.
I'll leave the chokes as is and just paint the bell.
