Title: Choke loading question
Post by: xcortes on December 20, 2016, 05:48:07 AM
I want to try some EXO-001 chokes in the Quickie. They are 1k ohm so the plate of the tubes would be at higher voltage than designed. Is that OK or should I do other changes to adjust the operating point?

Thanks a lot!

It's OK. The operating conditions are stabilized by the cathode resistor. You will draw a bit more current so the 9-v batteries will drain faster, but probably not enough to be noticeable.

xcortes,

I'm interested to know what you think of the chokes in the Quickie. I just received mine in the mail and having some upgrade options would be great.

I''m sure the pjccs are better but I'' planning to build an pre+ headphone amp quickie with a lot of parts available. It's gonna be a monster for my earbuds :)
