Title: power switch location
Post by: Karl5150 on March 03, 2017, 09:21:15 AM
I'm curious about the position of the power on switch on AC powered Bottlehead kits. Most of the amps are in the front, the pre-amps are 50/50 and the phono pre-amps are both back by the AC in. I searched the forum but didn't find an answer. Are they positioned for routing, asthetics, noise rejection, or? (My personal favorite is the toggle switch on the front, a la  Stereomour II)

It keeps the power wiring away from the signal circuit wiring, reducing the chances of hum pickup. This is most important when the signal voltage is low, so most important on phono, less important in preamps , and usually no problem in power amps.

Thanks Paul,
Makes sense, I think seeing the premium BeePre layout made me think there was a more complex answer.
I added a front toggle on my Reduction (using the good shielded twisted pair wire BH supplies with kits) for ease of operation and aesthetics when I built the Stereomour II and didn't notice any added noise.
