Title: Is it possible to add an additional set of outputs?
Post by: mmwwhats on October 15, 2015, 05:33:32 AM
Hey, I'd like to use the quickie to supply a sub. Can a second set of outputs be added to this pre. If it is possible, can someone provide some guidance on how to do this?

Thanks for any help.

Use a pair of splitters at the output jacks.

Wouldn't doing that halve the current to each output pair (or something along those lines)?

It might draw twice the current if both loads are the same input impedance.  I would just go to RS or an electronics store and buy a pair of splitters to try it.

There isn't really a one size fits all answer to this question.

If we assume that you are taking 4V out of the stock Quickie and driving an amplifier with a 100K input impedance, then adding a second amplifier that also has a 100K input impedance, you will lose .17dB of signal, which is negligible.

In the case of an active subwoofer, the input impedance could be all over the road, and your amplifier's input impedance could be a lot higher.  In essence, don't sweat it!
