I built the Paramour 2A3 amps  a while back and am currently using them to drive a pair of Zu Essences. Within limits it's a great combination. I've been rolling the 12AT7 driver and came across a nice pair of clear top GE 5965's. I understand these are essentially a ruggedized version of the 12AV7, which under some circumstances can be used in place of the 12AT7. Might anyone know if that's true with the Paramour. Can a 12AV7 replace at 12AT7 in the driver position?

Thanks, Jim.

It should work pretty well. You might have to change the bias a bit. You can try it, and measure the voltages - then I can assess how far off optimum it is, and whether it's worth refining it. It's a nice sounding tube.

Paul, thanks. That's what I figured. I just wanted to be sure.
