Why isn't the Foreplay ideal?

X-Fi > Stello DA100 > BeePre > SEX 2.1, Beta 22 or Bijou.    Paramounts > Extended Foreplay III > Thiel CS2

In my opinion the Foreplay is a perfect match for the Paramount. I have been running this way since last year and I love every  minute of it.

I just figured the volume pot on the FP wouldn't work well since it only has a set number of steps, doesn't it?

Hi:

I use the Eva 2 LDR attenuator with my Paramount 300Bs.  It's the small box on top of my digital player in the photo above.  Previously, I used a tube preamp (deHavilland Ultra-Verve) and autoformer volume control (Slagle autoformers).  The little Eva is the transparency champ.  Plus it has remote volume control.

At a little over $400 shipped to the USA, the Eva is one of the best values in all of audio.  Having written that, I'm very interested in the new BH 300B preamp that's currently being developed.  It takes some balls to come out with a 300B preamp due to noise issues, etc.  Apparently Doc and PJ think it's worthwhile.
