I just checked ebay for those 7N7's and couldn't find them. Could you send me the link?
Thanks,
John

I think those are pretty darn expensive.  But as another poster said in the other thread, the 7N7 may be cheaper but it is up to you to figure out if it sounds good enough.  I have no idea how those 5692 tubes sound.  Maybe luckily for me I never really played around with 6SN7.  I just went straight to the 7N7 from the 12au7 in the Foreplay.  But I have been very happy with the sound and haven't looked back, as have others who have tried them out.  No way to know for sure how YOU are going to feel about it except to hear it.

IIRC back when Paully went to the 7N7 you could purchase NOS for under $10 per tube.  NOS 6SH7s were going for $50 per tube.  That made the decision easy.

And you could still get some of the 6SN7's cheaply, but not the primo ones.  As my links show you can still get some of the really good 7N7 for under $20 but you can also get some 6SN7 for under $20 (I think), but are the under $20 6SN7 as good as the primo 7N7?  We didn't bother to find out.  But as I recall we didn't need much justification for what we wanted to do.  We were on an esoteric tube tear which is what lead us to the 6BR7 in the Eros.  It was fun and cheap and that was about all we needed to know.
