Has anyone heard the Magico S1 speaker? I've heard great things about their larger offerings which are out of my price range. The S1 reviews by the usual suspects are good.

Have not heard them but I have a lot of faith in Alon's and Yayir's designs. Unfortunately when we would show with those guys they would always have to use very high powered amps to get the speakers to sound the way they wanted them to. At 86 dB I think you are looking at something besides a low powered SET amp to drive them.

That's the dilemma Dan. I enjoy SET but I've also had good experiences with quality class A SS for power amps.

Yeah, well four Paramounts with the secondaries wired in series is about 36 SET watts. Works for me.
