My wife and I recently reorganized our CD collection and I found this gem in the stacks. It's her second commercial release and is really well mastered, much better than her first recording. Listening through headphones I was nearly brought to tears during one passage. There isn't a bad song on the recording. Are there any other Melody Gardot fans out there?
-
Oh definitely yes. You've got some gems waiting, she has "Worrisome Heart" which I think is just as good as My One and Only. Her newest is called "The Absence" which is very different but not bad at all.

The Absence is in my too buy list. I agree that Worrisome Heart is great, but I feel it's not as well mastered as My One and Only Thrill. On the later release I can almost feel her in the room with me. How was The Absence different from her others?

Big fan! Have all her CD's and at least 2 albums, "Worrisome Heart" and "One and Only Thrill". Sadly I was a bit disappointed with "The Absence", not as well recorded and the songs just did not seem to connect as well as her previous efforts. Great vocalist with a pretty amazing life's story.

Wow, she must have been checking in on us! No sooner than I hit the "send" button, she pops up on Jazz 24 singing "Worrisome Heart"!! :o

Last night in looking for the rest of her releases I read her Wiki page. She has an amazing life story and had one hell of a rebound after an accident.
Geary, you wrote you have the releases in LP?
-
She has a really great EP on itunes called Live from SoHo. Only 6 tracks buts its great.
-
Thanks for that Rob, I'll pick it up.

Oh yea. First heard her at a Bottleneck meet...John

Yes, I have "Worrisome Heart" and "One and Only Thrill" on vinyl. Nicely done! In regular rotation on the TT.

Thanks Adam! Can't believe I missed that :o

Thanks! Now the civilized world can go about its business in peace and harmony, and the breakdown of society as we know it will be (at least temporarily) avoided... ;)
It probably wouldn't have bothered me so much, except I also love that album. ;D FWIW, the other album that I always associate with that album in terms of great vocals and production quality is Regina Spektor's album "Begin to Hope". Different genre, to be sure, but still excellent. Check it out.
Best regards,
Adam
