Title: Damn. I'm stuck. [resolved]
Post by: btol on December 15, 2022, 06:09:30 PM
Got the transformer wired for 120V and I'm getting no voltage. 0V on xformer terminals 6/7 and 9/10. 0V on terminals L/N of the IEC but had 120.3V previously. I've retraced my wiring a few times to make sure everything goes to where it's supposed to be. Any ideas?

I would check to see if the fuse is blown.  You should still see the 120V at the L/N terminals of the IEC module. If the fuse is blown, replace it and let us know if it blows again and we can make some additional suggestions.  I don't see anything that looks amiss in your build so far.

Thank you Paul. I had some 3A slo blo and 10A fast blo fuses lying around. Tried both types and still getting 0V for all three readings. Not sure what happened since I did get 120.3V off the IEC prior to starting the xformer wiring.

Are the fuses blown?

And are the fuses being installed correctly, in the clip part of the fuse holder rather than the square tube ?

I appreciate the speedy responses Paul and Doc B. Checked the fuses and they all had continuity and had been installed in the clip of the fuse holder. I decided to get a better meter and that seems to have done the trick. I think I'm back in business. Could you confirm I've got this new meter on the correct setting?

Yes, that is the correct setting to measure AC voltage...John

Thank you! Excited to get going again.

Ugh. My first point-to-point experience. Accidentally took some ceramic off a resistor using needle nose pliers to wrap wire around a terminal. Should I not sweat this and move on or should I replace the resistor?

Just double check that the resistor still measures properly with your meter.  If it does, you can leave that alone.

Thank you. The resistor measures fine so I left it in place. I got up to the raw b+ voltage check today and am getting 328V. Is it OK that I'm slightly over? Having fun so far and excited to hear how the Moreplay sounds!

Just saw the b+ thread right under this one. Looks like I'm ok.
