Title: Pairing with Reduction Phono Preamp with Integration Upgrade
Post by: amerk84 on May 24, 2017, 09:21:21 AM
I currently use my Crack (with Speedball) + Reduction (with Integration) to listen to my record collection on Sennheiser HD650's. I am considering upgrading my headphone amp to either a the Mainline or the Crack-a-two-a.

Is this a worthwhile upgrade if I plan on not upgrading the Reduction, and if it is worthwhile, is the Mainline overkill?

The Reduction is quite capable of keeping up with either C2A or Mainline. The Mainline will give the HD650s a bit better speed and resolution than the C2A, though either amp will work very well with them.

Thanks for the input Doc! Since I already have a perfectly good Crack with Speedball I'm not in a rush to upgrade. Are there plans to replace the Mainline or Crack-a-2-a in the next year?

There are no plans to update those kits. But they are on sale this weekend...

Only checking this now :( I'll get around to them later though. Thanks!
