Title: 2 input option?
Post by: hofy on June 29, 2017, 05:23:17 AM
Has anyone done a mod for allowing 2 inputs?  just a second set of RCA and a toggle switch.

I would like to hook up my DAC and phono preamp and just switch between them rather than unhooking one and plugging in the other all the time.

Thanks.

So you want a

Crack, eh?

with

two, eh?

Hmmmm, sounds like that would be a good product...

If you are implying that I purchase a Crack a two a, that is not an option.   I already have the Crack 1.1 kit to build that I paid $200 for.   The Crack a two a starts at $700.

I am just asking if anyone has added an extra input and how they did it.

Well, as noted above we (Bottlehead) have done it, and that is how we did it - replacing the volume control with a version of the Submissive.

There are also many stand-alone selector boxes, often with video switching capability as well as audio. Customers have used these going back to our second product, the Foreplay preamp from 1998. They are quite inexpensive.

Hopefully someone has done the kind of mod you are thinking of, and they will post.

My Crack has a three way switch for three inputs, have used this Glassware Select-2 switch on 4-5 builds.  My "custom" Crack had two of these alpha switches, one for three inputs and the other for three caps for comparison testing.
