Title: Crack v1.1 — Voltage readings for T2 & T4 are higher than expected [resolved]
Post by: Ember on November 25, 2017, 09:41:45 AM
After assembly, checking solder joints, and performing resistance checks, I plugged in the tubes and performed voltage checks but a couple readings aren't matching up to the documentation.

T2 & T4 — Reads as high as 290V initially, then drops down to around 211-212V and remains stable at that voltage.

T7 & T9 — While these readings aren't as significantly off as T2/T4, they are still reading a bit high at 123V to 125V.

What should I check?

What voltages do you get at T1 and T5?  What was your measured incoming AC line voltage?

Thank you for the help :)

Incoming AC — 121V-123V

T1 — 92V
T5 — 93V

You have a 6080 with very healthy emission, I wouldn't be concerned about those voltages.

Just wanted to report that I tested the amp with headphones, things seem to be working well!

Sounded better than I anticipated with T50RP MK3 headphones. Looking forward to trying the Massdrop x Sennheiser HD 6XX on the Crack once the headphones arrive this coming Saturday, then applying the Speedball. Been fun so far, looking forward to more. :)

Thanks once again PB for your help, wasn't expecting to get things sorted over the weekend. Worked on the amp with my mom other than the finishing touches and had a chance to show her it working and completed on Sunday when we celebrated Thanksgiving.
