Title: Why won’t my tubes go in???
Post by: Dahn626 on December 26, 2017, 04:04:54 AM
I’m currently building the crack and at the point where I need to test tube glow. However, my tubes will not go in...I’ve watched YouTube videos about a gentle rock and read the directions but it seems like it should be fairly simple...

This is as far as I can get it in and not fear it’s going to explode in my hand

Usually it is a solder problem, take a picture of the underside of the sockets.

Push harder. New sockets should be tight.

It's probably just a snug new socket. But double check inside the socket to make sure there is no solder in a hole before you work them all the way in.

My 6080 tube does the same thing. I don't know why. I was able to get the 12AU7 in all the way though.

All is well now! The 6080 tube goes all the way in but the smaller sits about 1/3” above the plate but still lights up and it works!

Will this have any affect on performance...?
