I’m a little intrigued by the funky looking electrostatic Stax Lambdas.
But I’m a little confused by their specs.
Would the Lamba SR Pro work with the Crack via their SRD-series adaptor?
It seems like the Stax adapters have an input impedance of 30 Ohms, but I’m not entirely sure so I figured it might be best to ask.

Never mind!
Seems you need a proper big boy amp to use the adapter:

The SEX amp has been successfully modified to run Stax headphones. I believe there is even a custom Sowter transformer just for that purpose.

Maybe the Crack could act as a preamp to a complete Stax system?

Most of the Stax adapter boxes have a step-up transformer and will also work a lot better with something like a SEX amp driving them.
If you're spending the money for a set of Stax cans in the first place, I wouldn't cut corners on amplification.

I just went ahead and got a set of Lambda Pros and a SRM-313 amp.
Not the fanciest (read: expensive! I got mine for $630, which is way over my comfort line, but live a little!) Stax by a long shot, but I’m looking forward to hearing them.
Think they’ll make a nice counterpart to the Crack :)
