Title: s.e.x tube equevilent question

hi im thinking of building a sex amp for my dad`s klipsch`s (he is an audiophile from way back) is a 6SN7 The same as a 6DN7 be cause i have some great nos coin base 6SN7`s i could use
any info would be apiciated thanks

Hi,

Sorry, but the 6dn7 is the only tube that will work in the s.e.x. amp (though with some modifications you can use the 6em7 and 6ea7.)  The 6dn7 is a dual dissimilar triode meaning that it has a small signal triode on one side and a power triode on the other.  The 6sn7 is a dual triode for small signals and is identical on both sides and will not work in the s.e.x. d

6FJ7 has identical operating characteristics to 6DN7, but it is in a duodecar "compactron" package.  
Might be a  good one to use  in a highly  modified unit, or a "clone" design.  Not worth changing a perfectly good working unit, however,  as there will be no real improvement.
