I'm curious how you like your D10 with the Crack!
-
It sounds very good but i have a limited amount of dacs to compare. I'm building a mainline next. So I'm gonna upgrade dacs soon. Not sure what to use. I got a few dsd capable digital media players with thier own dacs.. So alot of experiments. But yes it does sound good

I put some Mundorf Mcaps in my Crack (https://bottlehead.com/smf/index.php?topic=10782.msg98464#msg98464).
-100uF, 250V.
While mounting them were fun, the audible improvement was not worth the price of those caps.
-in fact, I can't really say I could tell a difference with the new caps.
If you like tinkering, go for it.
If you're chasing audible improvement, save your money and get a SEX, Crack-a-Two-a or Mainline.
Here are the caps I considered when I was on the prowl (this is a straight copy from an older post of mine (https://bottlehead.com/smf/index.php?topic=10655.msg97438#msg97438)):
- Mundorf MCap Classic (http://www.mundorf.com/en/?category=hifi&menu=caps_audio&content=mcap), 100uF 250V.
- Solen Caps.91uF, 250V (https://solen.ca/products/capacitors/fast-capacitors-250v-pa-series-metallized-polypropylene/pa9100/)
- JB JFX (http://www.jbcapacitors.com/Plastic-Film-Capacitors/JFX-Premium-Metallized-Polypropylene-Film-Capacitors-Axial.html)and JSX (http://www.jbcapacitors.com/Plastic-Film-Capacitors/JSX-Superior-Metallized-Polypropylene-Film-Capacitors-Axial.html)caps.
Which to use?
- Audiophiler.
Don't seem (https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.Xaudiophiler+100uf+film+capacitor.TRS0&_nkw=audiophiler+100uf+film+capacitor&_sacat=0) to have a manufacturer website.
I've read (https://bottlehead.com/smf/index.php?topic=7539.msg72655#msg72655) that some recommend these for the power supply but not for output
- Dayton Audio DMPC-100 (http://www.daytonaudio.com/index.php/dmpc-100-100uf-250v-polypropylene-capacitor.html) 100uF 250V
- Panasonic EZP-E50107MTA (https://www.digikey.ca/products/en?keywords=EZP-E50107MTA) 100uF 500V.
Square capacitors.

Thanks for the reply guys..awaiting the mainline!!! i have a few different attenuators and a alps pot. i havent tried one yet. any suggestions on which woulb be best improvement? stepped sounds better but its a 24 step dale attenuator. kinda worried about the range ?
-
A 100k log stepped pot will be a nice improvement for sure. Helps with better left right balance at low volumes. I heard more details compared to stock.

I installed a pair of those Audiophiler caps from eBay into my Crack. They were relatively inexpensive, and I thought they improved the treble to give the music a bit of airiness. Although I don't have any basis for this, I'm guessing just going from the electrolytic to film made the biggest difference and going from one film to another probably wouldn't make any differences, at least to my ears. Anyway, I'm will be testing out that theory with my Mainline when I replace the stock film output caps with Mundorf M-Cap Supremes.
