Title: Adding a Subwoofer
Post by: Jameson on September 20, 2018, 04:35:20 AM
Now that the SEX is fully upgraded I'm working on speakers. I have a set of Blumenstein Orcas on the way and wanted to add a subwoofer. A couple questions:

Eventually a Stereomour II will replace the SEX, and I assume whatever setup I use here will work there as well.

You can run the speaker outputs from the SEX to both your Orcas and the subwoofer.  The speaker level inputs on the subwoofer are high impedance, so they won't put any additional load on the amp.

You can hook your Orcas to either the SEX amp or the output of the subwoofer.  The subwoofer will usually have a basic high pass filter to relieve some of the low frequency content from traveling to your speakers.

Thank you! Do you recommend one method over the other, or is it strictly a preference thing?

It's free to try them both!
