Title: How are folks handling multiple outputs?
Post by: oguinn on February 10, 2019, 07:57:39 AM
I clearly wasn’t paying attention when I bought my Smash and I assumed the multiple outputs also had a switch like the inputs do. I was hoping to use the Smash to switch between the SEX (for headphones) and the Stereomour (for speakers).

Does anyone have a solution they like for switching between speakers and headphones?

I don't own a Smash, but it looks like the two sets of outputs are wired in parallel from one set of outs. If this is the case, and there is enough real estate to the left of the outs, behind the transformer, the output wiring could be extended (ideally during the initial build) to reach a rotary switch. The switch would be wired like the input switch. A 3/8" diameter hole would be the only required modification to the panel.
Do you really need the Smash for either/both the SEX and/or the SM? Both are integrated.

I probably don’t need it, but like I said I bought it thinking I’d use it as an output switch also. But it’s here now and in progress, so it’s going in!

The SEX and the Stereomour have power switches, just use those.

Paul - are you saying just plug one amp into each output and just leave the one not in use off? Any degradation in sound quality?

Yes, I would just do that. The extra load is not a problem for the Smash.

Awesome. Problem solved. Thanks, Paul
