Title: Buying Audyn Caps Online
Post by: Deke609 on May 09, 2019, 08:07:52 AM
I've wanted Audyn True Copper Max Caps for sometime but always balked at the price from Parts Connexion.

Happily, it looks like they are available for much less when ordered directly from Intertechnik in Germany.

Here are the comparative prices in $Canadian from Intertechnik and from P C for 2 x 3.3 uF and 2 x 0.1 uF True Copper Max Caps rated 630 VDC (for a Stereomour II 2A3):

P C :                             $763, delivered to my door

Intertechnik :                 $492, excluding Canada duties and taxes

Using a Government of Canada Duties and Taxes estimator, I calculated that I will have to pay less than $100 for duties and taxes. So, all-in, no more than $600 versus $763. I suspect the savings would be comparable if ordering from the U.S.

Edit: I should add that the price from Intertechnik is also 60 Euro cheaper than Hifi Collective in the UK.

Audyn's website: intertechnik (dot) com

I will post my actual final cost when I receive delivery.

If you are willing to downsize to 2.2uF on the parallel feed caps, you can get that set from Parts Express for about $250 for all four caps.

They have the True Copper, but not True Copper Max. I wish they did. It looks like P E sells for roughly the same price as Intertechnik  after factoring in customs tariffs. But their selection is limited.

Got lucky!  Canada Customs charged me nothing. Intertechnik (Audyn) was out of the 0.1 uFs, so I ordered only 2 x 3.3 uF 630Vdc True Copper Max caps for the SII-2A3.  Cost me $425 CAD ($318 USD) delivered to my door. The same order from PC would have cost $700 CAD.  Score!  I wonder whether the fact that all the paperwork attached to the package was in German dissuaded Customs from trying to put a value on it.

... Of course, the law of customs karmic rebalancing dictates that I will soon get hammered  with excessive duties or have a package stuck in customs limbo for months - but today I am happy.

These 3.3 uFs are HEAVY - they must have quite a lot of copper. I'll need to install proper supports for them. I can't see hanging them from their leads.
