Title: RCA Grounding Question
Post by: Jimb0 on August 11, 2019, 07:30:54 PM
My client had used monster cables to replace the braided wire from the input jack to the potentiometer. Both are grounded to the chassis plate and I was wondering if they need plastic washers on both sides to isolate them. He leaves them hanging out (as shown in the 3rd picture) when the amp is on

Aside from the fact of it having a ground (note:; should find ground at pin 3 of Crack only, not at chassis plate, ground loop, hum problems), this looks like a possible unsafe situation.
Get him some RCA jacks and wire them to the monster cables. I've also rewired my Crack with shielded Canare wire (connect shield from the wire to pin 3).

Maybe you could convince him to just use some RCA jacks?
