Title: Transformer terminals read 9 VAC rather than the "about 9.7 VAC" called for
Post by: PaulG on April 01, 2020, 05:32:12 PM
Building a 5 year old Eros kit finally.
On page 42 of the manual the first item is to check the voltage between transformer terminals 4 and 5.  Mine measures 9.0 VAC rather than the "about 9.7VAC" called for in the manual.
The Bottlehead transformer (PT5) has a label that calls for 9VAC at Terminal 5 which is what mine measures.
Is 9.0 VAC close enough?  Have I done something wrong?

Is your powerline voltage low? Does your meter have fresh batteries? I think those would be the likeliest causes.

Thank you for the response.  Batteries in the GB meter are new as of 2 weeks ago.  I have access to a Klein multimeter which I will try to see if they agree and then check the line voltage.

Great call on the multi meter.  The Klein reads 9.69 volts so it looks like I can go forward.
Thank you for the guidance!
