Title: Painting the Chassis (accidentally both sides)
Post by: Bullpride on May 08, 2020, 06:38:23 AM
So I realized I painted the wrong side of the top plate.  I then painted the other side.

Now I read the manual and it says to leave the bottom side unpainted.  Do I need remove all the paint?  Do I need to remove paint in specific areas to allow for appropriate ground?

Thanks

You should remove paint in these areas:

1.  Where the volume pot mounts.
2.  Where the 5 lug strip mounts by the 9 pin socket.
3.  Where the #8 grounding screw mounts by the IEC power entry module.

When you paint the correct side, you'll also probably want to pass a 1/4" drill bit through the holes for the transformer screws, as there will be two layers of paint there that will make fitting the hardware difficult.

I would also like to thank you for being thoughtful about your project and correcting the issue before proceeding with your build.

Paul,

Thanks for your quick response.  I think I got it.  I tried to post a picture but I can’t yet  :o

There's a file restriction size, so often photos have to be scaled down by about 50%.

You sanded the paint off where the 5 lug strip mounts by the octal socket.  You need to sand the paint off where the 5 lug strip mounts by the 9 pin socket.
