good afternoon, folks, Though I have been reading this forum for a long time, this is my first post here ever!
what happens is that I have some scratchy sound, sometime signal drop offs. So I changed the volume pot to alps. It works, but the scratchy sound still comes, usually after the amp runs for a while.
So I am spray some crc electronics clearner into the rca jacks. Qtips are used to clean it.
In case I need to replace the rca jack, can someone tell me how to get the parts?
-
How are your DC voltages?
Do you get the scratchy sound with the pot all the way down?
How have you determined that you need to replace the RCA jacks?
-
thanks for the prompt reply, Paul.
when the scratching sound starts, I tried to wiggle/twist the rca cord, or unplug/plug the rca cord, it changes (better or worse) the scratching, sometime the annoying scratching noise even went away for a short time period. That makes think of cleaning the rca jack.
I have not tried turning the pot all the way down. I will for sure try that next time when the noise starts.
I do not understand the DC voltage part. Can you please tell me how to test it?
Thank you very much!
-
The DC voltage check is outlined in the manual.
Are the jacks physically nice and tight? They may just need to be tightened.
-
jack is tight. when the pot is turned all the way down, there is no sound at all.
could it be the jack?
-
If the scratching sound goes away when the volume pot is all the way down, that would suggest that the jacks could be loose/worn.
-
Thank you very much, Paul.
Where can I get the parts of RCA jacks?
have a great weekend!

There were a few different jacks that went into the kits over the years, you would have to post a photo of the jacks you have on your kit for us to know for certain.
Alternatively, you could take one out and measure the hole diameter, then go and pick some new ones on your own.
-
wonderful! :D Here are the pictures. Let me if you need me to take another shots
By the way, I also want to buy the original or equivalent headphone jack.
-
Those were the Chinese jacks that we were getting between about 2008 and maybe 2015. The quality dropped substantially after a certain point and we switched to a different jack that fits in a larger hole.
This would be a pretty close substitute, though they are currently out of stock:

If you want to drill out the holes in the panel to 10mm, you could install the Neutrik jacks we use now.
What's going on with the headphone jack?

thank you so much, Paul
what are the measure of these rca jackets? I might be able to find them on ebay.
for instance this one (3/8" mounting hole, chassis up to 3/16" thick)

for the headphone jack, I just want to get a backup.

The first set of jacks you linked to are identical to what you have now. Do be aware that the quality control issues could still be a big problem, and what we observed was that you couldn't tighten the nut on the jack enough to hold it in place without the threads disintegrating.
NYS212 is the HP jack.

thank you very much for your help. really appreciate it.
have a good weekend!~

The Rean jacks on eB should be OK. Rean is the other brand by Neutrik. Neutrik can't make everything in Liechtenstein. The country is too small. The seller has those in white also for the same price. You need to scroll down quite a ways to find those. There might even be black ones hiding further down.
