Title: New life for my 2012 Quickie
Post by: Zimmer64 on September 14, 2020, 04:25:05 AM
Hi,

I thought I share this. I built the Quickie back in 2012. Used it for a while before it went into a cupboard in the garage.

I now revived it as a tube pre for monitoring my home recordings. The amps are DiyAudio Amp Camp mono blocks, the speakers are DIY knock off Orca's. Not in the picture is the DAC and recording interface, Apogee One.

The sound is really good (within the low end extension limits of the speakers).

Have fun

Michael

I like the sound of tube pre-amps with solid state power amps for certain styles of music. Most likely due to the increased dampening factor.

BTW I also have an amp camp. Just a single stereo one, not bridged like yours. And I have fed it with a quickie in the past with great results.
