Title: iPad Mini to Crack?
Post by: Eldergod on November 09, 2020, 05:57:41 AM
What is the best way to get the audio signal from an iPad Mini to my Crack? Not really interested in BT, and want it to be as simple as possible while maintaining signal quality.  Can I run a 3.5mm headphone out from the Mini to the RCA's directly?  Seems like that would be the simplest/cheapest as that kind of cord is cheap.  Or do I need an adapter for the lightning port to run the Crack RCA's?  Or do I need a DAC or preamp?  Trying to create a listening station with as small/simple footprint as possible.

A DAC might not be a bad idea.

You can get an adaptor for your iPad that will allow you to power it and connect a USB DAC, I got mine on Amazon and I use an Audioquest Red, which has a mini headphone jack. You can listen directly or get an adaptor that has a headphone jack to 2 RCAs to power your crack, I got mine from Blue Jeans cable, well made and not terribly expensive. IMHO a vast improvement over the iPad's phone jack output 8) I actually use an iPod touch for the work bench area to drive an amp not a headphone amp and it works really well :)
