Title: Manual + Material Question
Post by: ArtnShit on February 22, 2022, 03:50:42 AM
Hi,

Working on the c4s boards now... Page 57 has a step for putting in the 220Ohm 1/4W Carbon film resistor. The manual identifies the coloring as Red Red Violet Gold, but the packing list has a resistor with the same specs and coloring as Red Red Brown Gold. Same resistor right?

Thanks!

Yes, and you can always double check by using your meter to measure the resistor's value.

Huh??

Red-Red-Violet-Gold is 220MegOhms as far as I can figure

Red-Red-Brown-Gold is 220 Ohms

There's a millionX difference.

Either the packing list or the manual is incorrect.

Am I missing something - or am I reacting to a different question?

Rich

My packing list does not mention the Red-Red-Violet-Gold resistor at all, but the manual references it! The quantity of Red-Red-Brown-Gold resistors is also correct for the build. Outside of that, I am not sure which is incorrect.

It is more than likely a typo in the manual.

It's very easy to confuse brown and violet stripes on resistors under certain lighting conditions and that may have happened when the manual was written. Measure the resistors with your meter and verify that it is the value called out. That's all that matters.
