Title: Have You Used Rod Coleman Filament Regulators & Ale Bartola Gyrators?
Post by: BenjaminSmith on August 24, 2022, 06:00:55 AM
Does anyone in the greater Puget Sound have experience with Rod's regulators/raw DC supplies or Ale Bartola's gyrator boards? I'm working on a CX371a preamp using both components and having the devil of a time tracking down some noise issues. A little in-person troubleshooting help would be hugely appreciated - I'm a newbie to design and a mechanical engineer to boot, so designing and building this preamp is analogous to learning a foreign language without hearing anyone speak it. I'm happy to compensate you for your time.

And if this is too far afield for the Bottlehead Forums I'll take it down.

What kind of noise are you experiencing?

I'll pm you some scope screen shots, and thank you.

Benjamin, your work looks excellent. Your finish on your stunning enclosure is also excellent.
If there is anyone that can help you on your question... It is Paul Birkeland. He will handle it.
Regards,
Don

Use a very similar setup myself, Ale's gyrator boards & Rods filament regulators in a CX301 preamp.  As Paul asks, what are we talking about when you say noise?

P.S. your regulator boards are very different, are those a new design?
