Title: Soldering to the RCA solder cups [resolved]
Post by: zaramon on October 07, 2022, 05:29:10 AM
Does anyone have any advice for soldering the wires to the gold-plated RCA solder cups? My solder seems to just bead off like water on a rain-x windshield. Could I not be getting the cup or wire hot enough? I'm using 60/40 0.032" solder. I am able to wrap the wire from the cup and around the outside and wrap it almost completely around, it's just not sticking for me.

Can you send a link to the solder you're using?  Also what iron are you using, and what temperature do you have it set to?

Actually, I got a new soldering iron today and it worked like a charm!
