Title: V-Caps
Post by: Eddie TT on October 19, 2022, 08:07:35 PM
Hi
I am upgrading caps in my  Beepre  to V-Cap ODAM. x 8 for I have done all upgrades apart from the input upgrade.

Web site says this under Installation Notes.

" The short lead indicates the outermost foil, and should be connected to the lowest impedance path to ground. Another way to identify outer foil is the writing on the label flows towards the outer foil. "

Is the lowest signal path, simply the way the signal is traveling though everything Preamp, Amp, Crossover?

Or is it the other way the return?

I have tried to work it out ?

Can someone please tell me

In theory, this makes a difference.  I've tried caps both ways and have found that I don't have the magic ears to hear the difference. There is a practical difference depending on the circuit and what's around the cap I believe.  This isn't something to lose sleep over.

The idea is simply that the outer foil being tied to the lowest impedance connection will have more shielding effect and theoretically pick up less EMI. It's more of a theoretical optimization than an indisputable improvement.
