Title: Foreplay with S.E.X.
Post by: bainjs on January 23, 2011, 12:33:05 PM
I looked through the posts and did not see anything on this topic.  I'd like to upgrade to a Foreplay to be used with a S.E.X. and wondered if they match up well together. I use Klipsch Heresys (99dbf)

I'm currently using a Quickie with the S.E.X. and I've been happy with it but I've got kit building fever and hoped the Foreplay would work for me.

Thanks

Joel

Plenty of commentary. My take is that a volume control on the power amp allows you to optimize the gain budget of the system for the best noise and distortion performance. More on that in my signals and noises white paper on the Community page.

When I had my S.E.X. amp I thought it sounded better with the Foreplay.  Not all agree, but I think there is little doubt that they do match up together well and you aren't going to be hurting the sound in any significant way if you put the pre in from of the amp.

Thanks for the responses.  As soon as I get my taxes figured out,  I'll see if I can make this happen.
