Title: upgrade path
Post by: Jay on February 25, 2023, 03:25:07 AM
I am planning to replace my stereomour2 with a beepree2 and a Kaiju. would it be best to build the Beepree2 first and feed it into the Stereomour while I work on the Kaiju, or build the Kaiju first and use the Stereomour2 as a preamp while I work on the Beepree2?

My current system is lomc cartridge into Cinemag SUTs into Eros1 into Stereomour2 into Great Plains Audioi 604s.

I would start with the BeePre, because the Stereomour II does not have preamp-level outputs. Taking the preamp output from the speaker posts puts two extra stages and a transformer in the line. Plus, unless you have installed the DC heaters upgrade, the Stereomour II will have a bit of hum, which will get amplified.

But that's just me. Either way should work.
