Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! I've been listening to the Quickie a lot lately, and it occasionally has a bunch of staticky noises, assuming this is coming from the tubes? Swapped the side each tube was on, and the sound showed up on the other side. Would it be ok to carefully clean the tube pins with contact cleaner?

I do not recommend letting Deoxit get anywhere near a tube socket. You can clean the pins off with a little abrasion (pencil eraser, 0000 steel wool, etc).

Why is it bad, PB? I use the Doc B's method of cleaning the tube pins.. but I hit it with some "CAIG Labs, Deoxit Gold Vacuum Tube Survival Kit SK-GXMD" towards the end..

Over time it can actually cause corrosion - the dreaded green socket. The green stuff is conductive and can cause adjacent pins to short.

Would 320 grit sandpaper be ok for cleaning the pins, or is there some concern with potential metal dust from the pins?

That should work just don't get too Carried away. I like Scotch brite myself. Either way A quick wipe with a little alcohol will take care of any dust

Had a few minutes today and cleaned all the pins on both tubes. Unfortunately there is still a lot of staticky noises, guess it's time for new tubes?

Been home sick, so I decided to buy some JAN Sylvania 3S4's. Don't know much about them, but figured I couldn't go wrong buying American ones. The previous ones were Westinghouse and had great mids and bass. Guess we'll see what these sound like.
