Title: blown board
Post by: 100r05 on January 01, 2025, 08:56:26 AM
When I first powered on my sublime amp the pc board sparked a small fire. The black chip I circled on the attached picture is what popped.

Also I double checked everything, What could have gone wrong? What did I miss?
Thank you all for the help

If I'm not mistaken Eileen has already sent a replacement board to you. There's not a whole lot of connections on that kit so aside from a wiring error I would be double checking the voltage trim of the power supply and make sure those green connectors on the PC board are making good contact with the wires installed in them. Also be sure no bare wires are making contact wth the chassis.

all fixed! however I am quite disappointed with the sublime/subette/pipette/moreplay/SEX set up I have. Just not great in my little office.

Thanks for all the help

Did you set your SEX amp for 4 ohm operation?

You'd need to go into the manual and review the output transformer wiring instructions and compare those to what you have on your amp to see how it's currently wired.

I'd like to help if possible. Can you give any more info as to what is causing your disappointment?
