Title: New iec plug question
Post by: Mgaith656 on February 11, 2025, 04:29:30 AM
Hello,
I have just acquired a new mains cable to use with crack. The plug at the crack side is a little bigger than the standard pc plug and doesnt fully insert (about halfway) and ends up touching the corner of the transformer. Is it fine to leave it touching the transformer? I have checked in another amp wiith more space the cable doesnt fully go in as well but it was working fine. Thanks in advance.

Touching the transformer isn't an issue, not going in all the way definitely could be a problem.

I had the same issue with my Mon Amor.  I took  a rasp to the shell of the connector.  It didn't take much plastic removal to get it to fit.  If you need more than a little,  I suggest you don't do this.  You don't want the copper inside to emerge from the shell.
Good luck.

I solved the problem by switching the iec socket around, i had to disconnect all the wires, turn the socket around and solder again. I note the biggest change soundwise was in the bass but it might just be that i was expecting some changeā€¦. Anyway. Thanks for the replies.
