Title: Terminal strip lower holes too small for 2 zener diodes
Post by: punderdown on March 31, 2025, 07:48:37 AM
I was humming along on my Kaiju build until I got to the part where I needed to fit 2 zener diode leads through the same lower whole on the terminal strip. They do not fit. These terminal strips are black, unlike the ones in the manual. Maybe a bad batch. I tried all the ones from my Eros 2 kit which I haven’t started on yet, and it’s the same. 2 Zener diode leads do not fit through the same lower hole.

Is there a reason why I shouldn’t use the upper holes instead?

You can take the zener diodes and cut an angle on the leads so they are pointy and skinnier, then stick them into the lower terminal strips.  As a side benefit, they stay put while you're soldering if you do this.

I went ahead and used the upper holes instead. Now I'm sitting and enjoying my Kaiju, which takes the place of my much beloved Stereomour. Off the bat I notice more bass, more slam, sharper edges. Loving it!

My bottlehead stable is getting crowded but I can't bring myself to get rid of any of them.
