I just saw that Allen Wright has apparently passed away quite suddenly. I don't know anything more, but he will be sorely missed - a real stand-up guy and an excellent designer.

Very sad. Here is an article on it:

Wow, sad indeed. Allen was one of the guys who believed in constant current sources and shunt regulators and all that good stuff, and he was always generous in sharing his knowledge. He was also a shooting buddy of mine. We only got to shoot together once (I remember him going nuts over my 1911s), but he used to send me great stories of the thrill he had in becoming a Swiss citizen and taking his rifle out for yearly competitions sponsored by the Swiss government. The man definitely had a passionate approach to life. Vale, Allen.

I'm shocked. Never met the guy but his writings are among my reference library: he wrote with an informative and entertaining style and showed every indication of being a "proper chap". We are poorer for his passing.

The forums are saying it was melanoma. Three months.
