Title: Kaiju/ Beepre2 Equalizer
Post by: blackharp on May 08, 2025, 06:21:11 AM
Is there any way to integrate an equalizer, tone controls or similar into the circuit? If not, is there a cost effective hardware solution? I seem to be missing a bit of lower midrange and/ or fullness I get out of my Fisher and McIntosh amps on certain music. Jazz horns sound great connected to my Altecs. I know this is sacrilege to some.  ;)

Thank you all in advance and as a side note, I just missed another crack sale.  >:(

Which Altecs do you have and what impedance configuration are you using on the output transformers?

604-Ds and I believe 8 ohm, but I can't remember 100%.

604-D is nominally 16 ohms. If that is the case with yours, using the 16 ohm output configuration of the Kaiji OTs should give a slightly fuller bodied sound.

Thanks, Doc. I'll double check how I wired the amp. These are my only 16 ohm speakers and I like to switch them out occasionally.

I have Bottlehead Monamour mono blocks driving Altec Model 19 clones.  I use a Schiit Lokius: a 6 band equalizer.  Adjustments at 20, 120, 400, 2Km, 6k and 16K.  $300.  I have also used the Loki Mini Plus, 4 bands, $150.  These are unbelievably transparent and effective.  I recommend them highly. And, you get a 15 day trial.
