Title: Question: Impedance matching the EROS Phono and the SEX with C4S
Post by: Henry2011 on June 13, 2011, 02:21:13 AM
Are any modifications required (or recommended) to match the output impedance of the EROS (ordered) to the input impedance of the SEX with C4S upgrade (assembled and loving)?  I intend to keep building other Bottlehead amps and I know the EROS was designed to work well with the Extended Foreplay III so any mods (if necessary) would likely be to the SEX with C4S.

Thanks in advance for any insights,
Henry Moore

Hi Henry,

S.E.X. and Eros will match up very well as long as your cartridge fits the profile for the Eros, which is anything above about 2mV output, and the S.E.X. is running into sensitive speakers or headphones.

Henry,

Not that you would do it, but a long run of cable between the Eros and SEX is not a good thing.  Any good cable up to say... 10 feet should be fine.  The only penalty for a long cable is a slight roll off in the (IIRC) low frequencies.  It could be the highs but on the meds I'm taking it is hard to tell.
