Title: How hot do your plate chokes get?

Just looking for some information on how hot the platece chokes on your stereomours are running?

I plan to put mine in some covers and want to make sure that I have enough air flow.

My calculations to predict temperature rise are not very accurate, but in the case of power transformers they do seem to be conservative. That said, the predicted temperature rise of the Stereomour plate choke is 27 degrees C, about half the rise of the power transformer. The plate choke is adjacent to the power transformer and mounted on the chassis plate, so the "ambient" starting point will be fairly warm.

Thanks, Paul.  I can also put a thermal barrier of some sort between the mounting base for the covers and the ptop plate of the amp (and yes, I'll make sure everything is properly grounded still.

Jim,
I just stuck a thermometer to the top of one of the chokes on my Stereomour, it has been playing for about 4 hours (with my cover that covers both chokes and the PT, it has good airflow) and got a reading of 94 degrees F which is between 34 and 35 degrees C.  Room temp is about 80 degrees F (running with the windows open today).

Thanks, Ed.  Sounds like I'll be fine.

Just have to send the transformer cover top plates and the PT cover off to the plater and then I should be ready to get building.
